HARLEM RENAISSANCE Lem will introduce students to the poets, musicians, actors, and visual artists who were active during the period of 1920-1940 in Harlem, NY. The students will learn how social conditions, economic change and politics all worked to affect the lives of the artists. A LEGACY OF SONG Lem traces a history of African American music from the Civil War through the Industrial Revolution through the modern age. Lem plays both the banjo and guitar and sings. This is a repeat program that was very well received - good for all ages. |
